Nayani Ilangakoon is a postdoctoral researcher at the Earth lab, University of Colorado Boulder. She earned her PhD in geosciences from the Boise State University (2020). Her background is in remote sensing applications in ecosystem ecology and forest diversity. Her recent projects include post-fire recovery and carbon potential in western U.S. conifer forest systems. Other projects include model and algorithm development for GEDI data to estimate semi-arid ecosystem biomass density, implementation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) methods to understand post-disturbance vegetation regeneration. She has experience in collaboration and team science for developing research methods and applications in ecology and remote sensing.
